Tony Cozier A pitch of a problem

THE West Indies and Zimbabwe have simply marked time over the past three weeks.
After five limited-overs matches, they remain in their same lowly positions on the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings and have learned little new about themselves.
The sequence was just as it was in their last encounter, two years ago in Zimbabwe, when the West Indies lost the first match before finding their land legs and taking out the next three.
Only days back from a morale-crushing hammering in Australia and in conditions more suited to the bowling strength of the opposition than their own, they have been made to fight harder this time

Amidst the struggles of others, Narsingh Deonarine finally confirmed the quality that was evident since he was a teenager. His handling of the varied Zimbabwean spin and, above all, his level-headedness should have been an embarrassment to most of his teammates.
His impressive 82 in the second innings of the Perth Test in December, when Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s injury opened a spot for him, hinted at an overdue maturity. This was further evidence.
We pass through this world but once. If there's anything you can do for a fellow being, it would be best to do it now. For we shall never pass this way again.

that's the problem we have in the WI, too many young players are pressed into service to play at the highest level before they really get a chance to mature.  When a player comes into the Aussie side he is fully experienced and hence a smooth transition without any lose of standards.

Does this man EVER stop moaning? i mean obviously things could be better and the WICB needs to address certain issues but in Ottis Gibson i believe we may have got a man who has the potential to move us forward, the truth is we were on a hiding to nothing playing Zimbabwe, if we murdered them 5-0 people would say "it's only Zimbabwe!! it was expected", but because they were competative in some of the games the line is "we're poor and we've learned nothing", what were we supposed to "learn" from this exactly? i would have thought the "learning" would have come from the last two test we played against Australia when we pushed them to the limit with a depleted squad, but of course Cozier didn't open his big mouth back then did he?  ::rolleyes::  for me talk is cheap, either address the WICB directly with your concerns or shut up, we are entering a new dawn now with Gibson and some exciting young talent coming through and negativity from bitter   media personas won't help our cause at all imo.

I see we starting early

guys it's the same story for the lat 10 yrs , men with Mic and pen speaks a lot of trash , you say once twice arite now you becoming a record player

cozier should give up the mic , game after game he changes his tune, holding, croft, bishop and all the former so called greats , I don't see them trying to get  jobs as coaches by the local board to help these younger players, lets not forget that these guys are all from the 70's they were coached by whom the colonial masters provided facilities took them to county cricket gave them modern (at that time) facilities to practice

what did do after retireing, grab a mic and become critics of the younger generation
