Former West Indies captain Ramnaresh Sarwan has emerged as Leicestershire’s

new target to fill the overseas player’s berth at Grace Road for the coming season.

Sarwan is available having played the last of his 87 Tests against India last July.

The 31-year-old from Guyana was considered by Leicestershire as a possible

Twenty20 Cup signing but they are now looking at him to play

in all three domestic competitions on a season-long contract.....

Leicestershire chase batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan Leicestershire are closing in on a deal to sign former West Indies skipper Ramnaresh Sarwan as their main overseas player for the coming season.
The 31-year-old would be available for the entire season and would play in all forms of the game.
Head coach Phil Whitticase told BBC Radio Leicester that he was confident the deal would be concluded soon.
"Hopefully he will join up with the squad on the tour to Barbados in March," Whitticase said.
Sarwan has not played at international level since July 2011 because of concerns over his fitness and form.
He has played 78 Tests, 173 one-day internationals and averages more than 40 in the longest form of the game.
Leicestershire had been keen on signing former Pakistan international batsman Mohammad Yousuf .
But talks broke down as Yousuf wanted to take time off to fast in the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, meaning he would miss four County Championship matches.
