COLOMBO, Sri Lanka – For the second year in a row, a West Indian spin bowler has won the International Cricket Council’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year award. Sunil Narine, the off-spinner who has made a huge impression since joining the Windies set-up last December, won the prize on Saturday night at the ICC Awards gala at the Water’s Edge Resort.

The 24-year-old from Trinidad & Tobago was all smiles as he received the award in front an audience which included several present players and former cricketing greats, including Brian Lara. Narine follows in the footsteps of leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo who won the Award at last year’s event in London.

Speaking after receiving his glittering trophy, Narine said it was the just the start of things to come.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Bishoo's position is due to the flippant, careless, dispensable attitude of the WICB towards players of his ilk as is catalogued through the annals of West Indian Cricket history post Ramadhin.

Bishoo's art is very difficult and if one examines Warne he was out and returned stronger.

The longest run given to a spinner I can remember is Suileman Benn who was coming good in the end.

I would like to see Bishoo return stronger and better as he seems to have the strength of character.
