The ICC needs to get rid of its president first before telling any country that its government cannot interfere in cricket. The ICC president is an active politician in India and a Union minister. Therefore, they have no basis on which to condemn Guyana. Both the WICB and ICC need to be sued by the Guyanese government for subverting its sovereignty

List of GCB’s wrongdoings being  investigated by police- HPS
-IMC’s remit expected to be  discharged sooner than expected    Georgetown, GINA, February 2, 2012
Just as the resort to a cricket Interim  Management Committee (IMC) was re-justified, another legal challenge was  mounted by the discredited Guyana Cricket Board (GCB).
Head  of the Presidential Secretariat (HPS), Dr. Roger Luncheon at a post-Cabinet  press briefing at the Office of the President today said that the courts have  rejected the pleadings of the GCB which have been made in the face of some  incontrovertible truths, that was attested to by the disclosures of the list of  wrongdoings by this corrupted body in the exercise of its mandate.
“Cabinet  felt that GCB’s foray into the court was an apt recognition into the  jurisdiction of the State. The GCB was characterised as an unaccountable,  irresponsible lot with little probity, particularly after the disclosures that  dealt with individual and collective wrongdoings,” Dr. Luncheon said.
These  wrongdoings have been brought to the attention of the West Indies Cricket Board  (WICB), CARICOM, the Prime Minister Sub-Committee on Cricket and the  International Cricket Council (ICC) and are currently being investigated by the  police.
The Cabinet  Secretary said that incidentally, neither the WICB nor the ICC responded  formally to those disclosures.
Cabinet is aware  that it is now test match season and although the outcome of the T20 tournament  was encouraging, new challenges are surfacing; principal among which are  possibilities of loss of matches by Guyana, threats to financial well-being and  occurrences of breach of contract affecting Guyanese players and, overall  impact of the situation on the local economy.
Cabinet  recognised the talented and committed members of the IMC and was reassured that  their remit would be discharged in a shorter time then predicted (six months  was the proffered life of the Committee).
At a recent  press conference, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Dr. Frank Anthony, in  response to the ICC’s statements condemning the Government of Guyana for  dissolving the GCB said the ICC was fed “one-sided’ information.
In this regards,  Government will be chronicling all that have transpired in Guyana with regards  to the administration of cricket prior to the formation of the IMC and, will  send that to the ICC to be taken into consideration and inform future  discussions.
The Sport  Minister added the WICB was well aware of the state of cricket administration  in Guyana prior to Government’s involvement and took no part in resolving these  issues.
He added too,  that Government wants to fix the state of Guyanese cricket and will work with  ICC and WICB in this regard; however, no threat of removal of matches from the  country will stand in the Government’s effort.

Govt calls in police on Guyana Cricket Board

Home Affairs Minister, Clement Rohee has called in the police to immediately probe the operations of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), in the latest round of battle between the local cricket governing body and authorities- a move the local cricketing body has welcomed.
The Home Affairs Minister said the law enforcement agency was summoned in the wake of concerns about alleged financial irregularities in the GCB.
“There is a general belief that everything is not honky-dory with respect to the financial activities of the Guyana Cricket Board,” said Rohee.
He said the police probe has already begun and he has asked that it be fast tracked. Rohee noted that investigators would have to peruse certain documents.
Ramlall had earlier this week given the Sport Ministry 24 hours to remove the locks from the GCB's office doors.
When contacted, GCB's Operations Manager, Robin Singh welcomed thedecision to call in the police but he said up to late Friday no investigator had visited the board's offices. "I welcome that. Let the police investigation begin because you need to clear the air, you don't want clouds hanging over you," he told Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com )
Singh assured that all of the GCB's accounts have been audited and there was nothing to hide. "There is no question about the accounts. If the board was a rotten board, I would not have been here," he said.
An Interim Management Committee (IMC), under the chairmanship of former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd, has been established by government to help revamp the governance of cricket in Guyana.
Chief Justice Ian Chang has offered an expert opinion that essentially says that neither the GCB nor its affiliates are legally constituted bodies.
Government has promised to craft legislation for the governance of cricket and other sports to ensure that all local bodies have a legal standing. Sport Minister, Frank Anthony has said that once the IMC irons out all the difficulties, elections will be held and the management of the game will handed back to the GCB.
However, this move has not found favour with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) refusing to recognize the IMC. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has also expressed concern about the Guyana government’s involvement in running cricket.
Against that background, Guyana is unlikely to be one of the venues for Australia’s upcoming tour of the West Indies. The WICB continues to recognize the GCB.
Singh also confirmed that he was locked in by unknown persons on Friday morning while he was inside addressing outstanding payments and preparing for the Sean Devers Benefit Match. He said he only knew he was locked inside when the administrative staff said they were downstairs and could not have entered because there were locks. Singh said he called Ministry of Sport officials who said they had not locked the door.
The GCB plans to donate GUY$500,000 to Devers, a former cricketer and cricket commentator who has suffered strokes in recent weeks. Proceeds for a benefit match scheduled for later this month are also expected to go towards the Devers fund raiser.

New York, New york- Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)secretary , Anand Sanasie, has said that removing the Third Test  between West Indies versus Australia from Guyana to Dominica is a huge loss for the for the country and for the Guyana cricket board.
Sanasie stated  during a brief interview on  Thursday in which he said a number of businesses to include taxi drivers, hotels, restaurants and vendors will be devastated  by the WICB’s decision to withdraw the match from Guyana, which  is slated for April 23 to 27, to Windsor Park in Dominica.
“The long term, it is that we may not be able to bid and host and reliably do so because there would be a lot questions as to if the games can stay here so the Guyana Cricket Board itself may not be putting in any bids to have games there in the short-term.

Sanasie, , added that the GCB had managed to obtain a court order, dictating that their offices, which had been padlocked by Guyana’s Sports Ministry over the Board’s refusal to hand over the relevant documents connected with the business of the GCB, be re-opened.
The order, he said, stated a deadline of 3 pm on Thursday for the locks to be removed.
He also stated , we were able to secure a court order ordering the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports to remove the padlocks on our offices within 24 hours which commenced yesterday (Tuesday) at 3 pm. So by 3 pm today (Wednesday) if it is not removed, we have an order from the courts to remove the locks. So that is the present situation. We will take it day by day as it goes,” Sanasie said.
The Test Series will open with five ODI’s starting in St Vincent on March 16 and continue with the start of the first of two T20 matches on March 27 in St Lucia. The first of three Test matches will start on April 11 in Barbados.
