Guyana Cricket: Secession must be the only Option!

Westindiesforum.comGuyana's cricket management must affirm their commitment to an Independent cricket team so it  could compete as a separate entity in international cricket. Guyana  must Secede so its cricket development can reach its historical levels of the past and ensuring Guyana cricket returned to its halcyon days. We feel there is "an opportunity to head in that direction" of playing alone in international cricket, especially with the Guyanese public seemingly in favour of the idea. We  share the view of  that the general public is in support of an independent national team in International cricket. We think this would be productive to the riches of Guyana's  cricket and a major vision  to the efforts to restore Guyana to its former glory days as undisputed champions of the West Indies for close to two decades.Guyana  cricketers can compete at the highest levels as a national team and  we believe that they continue to form a significant and important component of World  cricket. Guyana's  success can be transferred to the Counties and club teams through the reaffirmation of the qualities that have earned them international acclaim with the Likes Of Lloyd, kanhai, Kallicharran, Gibbs just to name a few. Guyana has the resources, crickets grounds all across the country, many top clubs and thousands of aspiring cricketers.Guyana must go it alone. Its the only choice for its cricket future.

Timing for any decision is paramount and this is not about Guyana, but for all situations.

Guyana, like all other states in the Caribbean, has had a proud history. The natural cycle of things have allowed periods of dominance by various teams, but what is common and consistent is that we have produced great and sometimes exceptional cricketers. We being the operative word.

I can see the reason for all the individual states to go their separate ways because we have become more independent than we were 30 years ago.

The timing is not right but the idea is not ridiculous.

Cricket is the only unifying force in guyana and this must be managed properly . It is no coincidence that APNU and the Govt is in agreement on the IMC

WICB has thumbed its nose at a nation. That alone proves my point of secession from the wicb
