Guyana will take part in the Caribbean T20 tournament despite an issue over the administration of cricket in the country, causing the offices of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) being locked. The WICB said the GCB had made progress in being able to field a team and that they had sought additional assistance from the West Indies board, which was provided to facilitate their participation.
Guyana are scheduled to play Leeward Islands in Antigua on January 9, the opening day of the tournament.

GCB secretary calls for Lloyd's remova                                                                                                                                                                                         Clive Lloyd height=345      Clive Lloyd                                   GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC:A leading official of the deposed Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has written to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) urging them to remove legend Clive Lloyd from its board of directors.
Anand Senasie, the secretary of the GCB, which has been replaced by a government-appointed interim management committee (IMC) to run the game in the country, has confirmed that he has written WICB President Julian Hunte asking for Lloyd's position on the regional governing body to be rescinded.
Lloyd is a non-executive director of the WICB and has been appointed by the Donald Ramoutar administration to head the IMC, which was appointed last month to take over control of the game.
conflict of interest
Senasie felt that Lloyd's appointment to the IMC was a direct conflict of interest and urged Hunte to act.
"We are cognisant of the ICC's and the WICB's stance on political interference in cricket and urge that immediate steps be taken to ensure that Mr Lloyd's appointment as a WICB non-member director is immediately rescinded for bringing the WICB, and the sport in general, into disrepute," wrote Senasie in a letter appearing in the local daily, Kaieteur News.
"Further, we humbly suggest that this position be transmitted to the ICC, where Lloyd sits as the chairman of the Cricket Committee, as it clearly constitutes a direct conflict of interest that has serious ramifications on the status of the WICB.""While the executive of the GCB are aware, through their representatives on the WICB, that your board is currently addressing this issue in totality and does not recognise the government-appointed IMC, it is imperative that we reiterate our position on Mr Clive Lloyd," wrote Senasie

Bishoo using 4-day tourney to strategise for Aussies
« Reply #549 on: 02/09/2012, 11:50 AM »

ROSEAU, Dominica (CMC) – West Indies leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo says he is using the Regional Four-Day Championship to develop strategy for Australia’s tour of the Caribbean starting next month.“This tournament will form part of the build-up to what we can all expect to be a tough series against Australia,” the 26-year-old said.
“I have not played against Australia, but I have been watching and paying close attention to what is happening so I have a few ideas and plans about how to bowl when I get the opportunity.”
Bishoo has emerged in recent times as a crucial member of the Windies attack and is expected to play a key role in the series which includes three Tests, five One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20s.
Last weekend, he warmed up nicely for that showdown with match figures of eight for 70 as Guyana demolished Leeward Islands by 234 runs at Windsor Park in Dominica.
Bishoo admitted he was not in top form during the game but was looking forward to moving into high gear in this weekend’s tussle with Windward Islands also scheduled for Windsor Park.
“I came into the four-day tournament after coming off the Caribbean T20 tournament, so I would say I was not at my best throughout the match,” Bishoo pointed out.
“I was still happy with the way I bowled overall and I was very happy with the way we played as a team. In the T20 tournament I was bowling just four overs, so it’s good to get back into the long version of the game and be able to plan a bit more and get some overs under my belt.”
“We played some good cricket in the first match and got a good win, which was a big boost for the team,” said Bishoo, who has played 10 Tests and 13 ODIs.
