A Psycho or a Psychologist is a recent invention. I will not even call it an innovation as we are complicating it far too much. I even recall when England had a Chaplin on tour.

Occassionally we need a confidence boost whether you are a club cricketer or an International but taliking helps.

According to sources close to Mushtaq, who has been working with the England team as spin bowling consultant for the last three years, he had expressed interest in working with the Pakistan team but at the same time wanted certain conditions to be fulfilled........

However, the Board is not willing to accept his terms and conditions, revealed the source.

"Since then the board has not contacted him, which is an indication that it is not willing to accept his rigid conditions," the source said.

The source added that Mushtaq is likely to sign another fresh contract with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as he was being offered a good financial package and incentives and he has adjusted well within the England dressing room and with head coach, Andy Flower........Source

I think 3 seamers and Shillingford is the best balance. Shillingford had better watch his action as I saw signs of the chuck against the Aussies!

I rally don't care for Opisility...however he is right on this one...talking 4-prong pace attack. It would have been great to have Rochie, Fidel, Ravi and Gabriel...however we have a noted wicket taker in Sammy. And we calso have the option of SAmuels and Deo. Not bad at all.

Batting stacks up nicely too.

AB, Powell, Kirk, DB, Samuels/Deo, Shiv, Ramdin, Roachie, Fidel Sammy and Ravi.

England will need to win its three-Test series against the West Indies starting at Lord’s from tomorrow (Thursday) if it is to stay as the number-one ranked Test side on the Reliance ICC Test Championship table.

England is currently on equal points with South Africa but is ranked above the Proteas when the ratings are calculated beyond the decimal point. However, if England is held to a drawn series, then it will slip behind South Africa into second position.

Lords also takes spin. It is unlikely both Deo and Samuels will play and shame Fudadin will not play.

While a 1-0 or 2-1 series win will keep it on 116 ratings points, a 2-0 series win will earn it one ratings point, while it will finish on 118 ratings points if it wins all the three Tests of the series.
In sharp contrast, England will drop behind South Africa and Australia if it loses the series 1-0 or 2-1, while in case of a 2-0 or 3-0 defeat, England will finish in fourth position.

The days when a West Indies series began with the expectation they would inflict a blackwash are long gone. Now they begin a series with many expecting they will be whitewashed. Unless weather intervenes, anything other than an England cleansweep is likely to be viewed as a missed opportunity.
