No one guaranteed a place: Strauss

England's batsmen will be playing for their Test places, as well as pride, when Andrew Strauss' tourists try to avert a 3-0 whitewash against Pakistan in Dubai.

Gul finds riposte after Pakistan fold for 99

Pakistan began the third Test in Dubai imagining their first whitewash in a Test series against England. They reached lunch with such ambitions no longer uttered. By drinks on the first morning, England had five Pakistan wickets, by lunch they had seven.

'Who am I?' goes the existential dilemma which India's cricket coach Duncan Fletcher might currently subscribe to.

Very little has gone right since he took over the mantle from Gary Kirsten, and there seems to be very little coherent explanation of what's going wrong.

The fact that Fletcher succeeded Kirsten who could put no foot wrong, and under whom Indian cricket and Mahendra Singh Dhoni rose to great heights, was always going to be a tough act to follow.

Wickets tumble on Day 1 of Pakistan-England Test

England batsmen ruined the terrific job by seamers Stuart Broad and James Anderson to end up at 104-6 against Pakistan on a bowler-dominated opening day of the third Test on Friday.

Cook holds the key in tough chase

England lost Andrew Strauss and Jonathan Trott before lunch in pursuit of a demanding victory target of 324 that would prevent Pakistan taking a clean sweep of the series
